SNUGGLE UP: MY READING LIST FOR THE REST OF 2023

Hey there, bookworms! As the days get shorter and the nights cozier, I can't help but get excited about the fantastic books I'm planning to escape into for the rest of 2023. So, let's get comfy, grab some snacks and a Poppi soda, and chat about the books that have me itching to start reading.

"Family Lore" by Elizabeth Acevedo

I've heard that Elizabeth Acevedo's new book is a family drama, and I'm so ready for some juicy conflicts and complex characters. I was lucky enough to see Acevedo at the National Book Festival and hear her do a reading from Family Lore, so excited is an understatement.

"Everything I Know About Love" by Dolly Alderton

Dolly Alderton's memoir is on my list because I'm in the mood for a good laugh and some relatable life stories. I don’t know much else about this book, but I got it on Kindle Unlimited, so that’s a plus!

"The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood

I haven’t read this classic since high school, so It's time to fix that! I read “The Grace Year” by Kim Ligget earlier this year and was enchanted by the eerie, dystopian vibes and discussion on feminism, so I’m eager to explore something within the same vein.

"Bunny" by Mona Awad

Mona Awad's book is calling to me with its dark humor and twisted friendships. My book club read it last year before I had joined them, so I want to catch up. I'm here for the creepy and the weird!

"Emily Wildes Encyclopedia of Faeries" by Heather Fawcett

A little faerie folklore magic, count me in! I heard about this book through the podcast Cozy Club earlier this year, so I am excited to try it.

"Daisy Darker" by Alice Feeney

I love a good thriller, and Alice Feeney never disappoints. I can't wait to unravel this twisty murder mystery.

"One Dark Window" by Rachel Gillig

BookTok clued me in to this book. I’m super ready to venture into a world of shadow, deception, and a little bit of romance

"Magnolia Parks" by Jessa Hastings

Jessa Hastings promises an emotionally charged story about lovers, and I could use a dose of that kind of drama right now.

"The Snow Child" by Eowyn Ivey

This is one of my book clubs final picks for the year. It’s a wintertime fantasy novel and I’ve heard it might push some buttons for some of the readers in our club.

"Yellowface" by R.F. Kuang

R.F. Kuang's storytelling always packs a punch. I'm bracing myself for an intense read with plenty of food for thought.

"Serpent and Dove" by Shelby Mahurin

Witches and an enemies to lovers romance? Sounds like a winning combination. I’ll read just about anything with powerful women witches.

"Hello Beautiful" by Ann Napolitano

I’ve heard that this is a modern retelling of the classic “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott AKA my most favorite comfort read of all time.

"Butts: A Backstory" by Heather Radke -

Radke's unique exploration of a rather cheeky topic is bound to be an enlightening read. If you are intrigued by the confusing of phenomena of body trends, you should read this one with me.

"Fox and I" by Catherine Raven

If there's a fox involved, count me in! I picked Fox and I up at a lovely indie bookstore in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where it came highly recommended by the shop owner. Excited to hear this story about a fox and Catherine.

"A River Enchanted" by Rebecca Ross

Rebecca Ross is a promising author and I adored her book Divine Rivals. I'm expecting a lot of magic reading A River Enchanted!

"The Creative Act" by Rick Rubin

The title alone is calling to the artist in me because I'm ready for some inspiration and motivation. I’ve seen this as a potentional winner of a lot of book of the year types of lists, so we will see if it lives up to the hype.

"Romantic Comedy" by Curtis Sittenfeld

I already started this light read, and I can promise that if you are a fan of SNL and rom-com novels, you’ll be into this. I mean, it’s literally in the tile, so yeah.

"The Secret History" by Donna Tartt

This modern classic promises intellectual dilemmas and moral complexities that I’m curious to understand. Bring on the dark academia winter vibes baby.

"It Girl" by Ruth Ware

Ruth Ware is one of my comfort authors, but I haven’t read one of her mysteries for a couple years now. I always expect a good and spooky time with her.

"After the Forest" by Kell Woods

This was my first Illumicrate book subscription and I am really please with the selection. After the Forest is a retelling, or perhaps more of an extension, of the Hansel and Gretal story. Sounds great for cold, dreary weather.

"Iron Flame" by Rebecca Yarros

This one goes without saying I think, but if you didn’t already know - I am on the Fourth Wing bandwagon and am so excited to visit the Basgaith War College with super cool dragons world a little more.

There you have it, my cozy little winter reading list, filled with books that promise to keep me entertained and enchanted through the end of the year. Let me know what literary worlds you’ll be escaping to and let’s make the most of the rest of 2023. Happy reading, everyone!
