What’s In My Bag: Wedding Filmmaker Edition

Okay, I get it—gear blogs can be boring. But hear me out! When you’re trying to decide what tools to spend your hard-earned dollars on (or just feeling nosy about what other filmmakers use), a good breakdown is golden. So, whether you’re an aspiring filmmaker, a couple wondering what kind of wizardry I bring to your wedding, or just someone who likes reading about techy stuff, welcome. Let’s dive in.

The Bags

Peak Design Everyday Sling v2 (6L, Black)

This baby is my bestie on wedding days. It holds all the essentials—batteries, lenses, lip balm, snacks (yes, snacks are essential). It’s like the perfect sidekick: compact, reliable, and sleek.

Peak Design Everyday Backpack v2 (30L, Charcoal)

Listen, I have a lot of love for this backpack. It’s like the Swiss Army knife of camera bags. It is my Mary Poppins bag. It holds everything near and dear to me. The design is flawless—every pocket, strap, and zipper is there for a reason. It’s spacious but somehow doesn’t feel bulky, and it’s a dream for traveling videographers like me. I keep finding hidden compartments and features that just make my job easier.

Lenses I’m Obsessed With

Rokinon Cine DS Lenses (24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm)

These are my cinematic darlings. Gorgeous depth, buttery bokeh, and manual everything—so satisfying.

Sigma 50mm and Sigma 28mm

Because you can’t go wrong with Sigma primes. They’re sharp, reliable, and they just get me. The 50mm spends a good amount of time on my main body during a wedding day.

Cameras I Can’t Live Without

Sony a7iii’s (x2)

We’ve been together since 2018, and these are like my ride-or-die cameras. Lightweight (thank you, Sony, from the bottom of my arthritic hands), incredible in low light, and perfect for slow-mo magic. I also love the super 35 feature to get sneaky up close candid shots.

Sony FX3 Full-Frame Cinema Camera

The newest member of my squad. The colors? Chef’s kiss. The quality? Next level. We’re still in the “getting to know you” phase, but it’s promising. I’d definitely recommend the Sony FX3 to anyone looking to switch to Sony or even upgrade their gear.

Minolta XL-Sound 84 Super 8mm

I found her at my favorite - Brooklyn Film Camera. She’s gorgeous, nostalgic, and everything I want in a Super 8 camera...except lightweight. One day, I’ll find her smaller sibling, but until then, she’s worth the arm workout.

Sony Handycam

The handycam is something I hand it off to the wedding party or family on the wedding day. It’s a way to capture their perspective of the day and leave a little message. The footage is always so raw, sweet, and nostalgic—it’s like a little time capsule.

Fujifilm X-T50 (Silver)

This one’s for me. I got this camera before my summer in France and I am SO SO happy with the purchase. I originally was looking into Tiktok’s viral Fujifilm x100vi, but she was on backorder and I knew it wouldn’t arrive in time. I felt so lucky when fujifilm announced the new x-t50 because it had all the same features I wanted and more. She’s stunning, she’s retro, and the film simulations and recipes are so fun. Aesthetics and practicality combined. It’s everything I could ever want in a travel camera.

Audio Gear

Tascam DR-10L (x2)

My go-to lav mics. I’ve got them in black and white to match the couple’s wedding attire.

Sony ICD-PX470 Digital Voice Recorder

The secret weapon for crisp speeches. I attach it to the mic with an elastic sleeve (genius, I know).

Creative Add-Ons & Accessories

Prism Lens FX Filters

Perfect for artsy shots when I want to get a little experimental. Think dreamy, moody vibes. I love the cine soft, moody, nostalgia, and dream filters the most.

Pocket Dispo Lens for Fujifilm

A 3D-printed lens with an actual disposable camera lens mounted inside. It gives hazy, nostalgic vibes. Fun for personal projects and just messing around.

DJI Mavic Air 2 Drone

Okay, drones terrify me (is there a support group for this?), but they’re undeniably cool. Great for those epic aerial shots when the timing and location are right.

Random (But Necessary) Extras

My backpack isn’t just for camera gear. Here’s the other chaos you’ll find in there:

  • Owala water bottle (hydration = energy).

  • MacBook Pro (2019) Handles everything from editing to emails to binge-watching after work hours. Love that it is portable.

  • Rookie drink mixes (their Wake and Recovery mixes save my life on long days and the Sleep is perfect for travel).

  • Poppy & Pout lip balm (because dry lips and weddings don’t mix).

  • A lint roller, small scissors, and nail clippers.

  • And of course a ton of memory cards.

And that’s the lineup! Hopefully, this helps if you’re trying to build out your gear collection or just curious about what I bring to the table (literally). Let me know if you have any questions—or if you’re a filmmaker, what’s your favorite piece of gear?
